Première day on the blog! I’m wearing my sneakers with the hidden heel for the first time. And since they are comfortable I have the slight feeling that I’m able to wear a lot more than the other sneakers that I own. And nothing against that they make me a lot taller without people even noticing that I’m actually on heels. So, I’m very grateful for these shoes. Big confession I’m going to make here: I hate being small, especially since a lot of my friend are tall as statues! But then I have another problem, I walk everywhere so I can’t wear really tall heels. Sneakers with heels are perfection in shoes. I’m thinking about buying them in black, to change it up. The fact that I’m wearing sneakers is also a first for me. In the last year I ditched the sneakers to embrace high heels (or other type of shoes). I just thought that it was time to go back to old habits e I found out I missed wearing sneakers!
To be a little different I decided to wear a monochromatic look today, where the shoes pop out from the whole outfit. This skirt was forgotten on my drawer and by a lucky shot I found it just in time to make the post for the blog while the weather works with me. Also I had forgotten how short this skirt is. Probably that is why it was forgotten in my drawer. But I thought that with this weather and with the advance of the blog, showing a little bit of leg isn't necessarily a bad thing. Also I just noticed I talk a lot about the weather in here, but forget about it, my head isn't what it used to be even though I'm just 19. See you next time!
This was just my lucky day! My friends and I picked a terrible day to go to Porto. I never saw so much rain on a summer day! But the problem wasn’t just the rain, it was also really cold. Aside all this we had a really fun day, we weren’t together in a while. These photos weren’t taken by my photographer but by a friend of mine, Mafalda. Getting there I was thinking how bad the weather had gotten in a few minutes. No way was I going to take pictures in the rain. After a long walk (until my shoes were full of water inside), Mafalda suggested that we should take the pictures in the rectory of the Universidade do Porto. And I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. It was so much fun being photographed by her, and since I didn’t wanted anything boring, because rain is boring enough, I started dancing and having fun with it. And I’m glad I did. I gave a motive for other people that found shelter there, just like us, to have fun just like I did! Long story short, the weather was terrible but I had a great afternoon with my girls. Talking about my outfit, I wasn’t so bright about it, not that I don’t like the clothes I wore! My problem was with my shoes! They weren’t the most appropriate to wear with rain but I’m not known for my predictable style. But if I had worn boots it would be just because of the rain since the shoes work a lot better with the look. The blazer that I’m wearing it’s in fact one of my favorites and I didn’t even gave any money for it, it was my mother’s when she was in her twenty’s. My mom had style and you’ll see that along the posts, I wear a lot of vintage pieces that were hers.
A very short post for today just because I don’t have much time to write. It’s going to be a long day. I’m going to Porto with a couple of friends (including my photographer, so I’ll have plenty of photos to show you) to buy the tickets for a music festival. This festival is going to be like a way to say goodbye, yes, cause in no time I’ll be back in Aveiro (Yei). In one hand I’m very happy to return, I’m finally going to see people I haven’t seen it a long time. But in another hand I’m going to leave my closest friends here. But if our friendship stayed strong last year, it’s not going to fall apart this year! And here I am getting sidetracked again. I was afraid that I was going to be cold the day I took these photos, I just wanted to show this fantastic red dress without a jacket/top on top of it, it could ruin the way it flows with the wind. Just my luck, the sun decided to show up. And of course I wore the dress with my favorite shoes! A great look to go out for lunch/dinner.
Today is just a no day. I love to take pictures for the blog but today I’m just not in the mood. I keep looking through my closet and I can’t seem to find anything that I feel like wearing. It’s one of those days that I’m only comfortable in my pjs and at home. And to top it all off my hair is also in a no day. Don’t get me wrong, I can’t get enough of my blog, I couldn’t be happier about it but it’s just one of those days when I just feel like staying in watching a movie with my dear dog by my side. One day I’ll show him here, he’s beautiful! Also I’m not feeling like writing big texts so I’m going to leave you with some pictures I took yesterday near my house to inspire you. To me it will be a day at home.
I was wearing:
Shoes: Pedro Miguel
I’m still recovering from an intensive shopping marathon with Ana. When I say intensive marathon, I’m not kidding. We went through every store in the mall, some of them twice! And of course we had to go to a mall that had Primark, out favorite “bargain” store. We couldn’t have made a better choice; I left the store with a pair of sneakers with a hidden heel, very much like Isabel Marant’s style in a color that it is going to be very fashionable in the Fall – bordeaux! Personally I love this color, I’ve said it before, even in the colder seasons, I like to wear warmer shades of colors and since all my winter shoes are either brown or black I bought that color. I’ll show them to you this week!
It’s becoming sort of a habit, writing in coffee shops. But can you blame me? The coffee here is great, I have a view to the beach and a nice ambience. I couldn’t ask for more. These last few days have been nuts, photo shoots, writing for the blog, I have to find time for my friends from around here. I’ll be back in Aveiro really soon. Not that I don’t want to but I’d like them to come with me, it would be madness every day. Just hear this, after coffee I had the brilliant idea for us to go down to the beach (and I was wearing high heels). We ended up sitting in a rock that I could hardly climb. We talked a lot and decide to go to another beach for a dive. Nothing of this sounds weird but we did all this at one am! Right now I just wanna enjoy the few moments I have with them.
Today I picked a nice coffee shop to travel the world of fashion. After thinking about it very much I decided to publish these photos even though they aren’t great. Afraid to not have enough time to take pictures in the afternoon I asked Ana if she could take them in the morning. Big confession: I hate waking up early. Even if I have slept hours and hours I’m incapable of waking up with a “decent” face. Today not even concealer could help me… Funny thing is Ana (my photographer) doesn’t like to wake early either, so the shoot was scheduled for both our miseries, until one of us said it was enough. Aside from all the complaints, we spent a good time, laughing with the photos, especially the ones where I’m covering my face with the capeline. And yes, it’s the second time I’ve worn it for the blog but I’ve warned you all that it was one of my favorite pieces!
And here I am, sleepy like I didn’t sleep at night, sitting at some train writing the new post. I don’t know what I was thinking, writing on the train. All the fuss and the noise – bathing season isn’t over yet. It has everything to go wrong. I could just take care of this on a coffee shop in Aveiro enjoying a delicious macaron. I’d be happy to do it but I know myself too well to let myself do it. I only go to Aveiro to cleanse my soul. It’s almost like that feeling of “home sweet home”. No, I’m not from Aveiro but it’s almost like I am. I spent there 9 months out of a year since I study there in the University of Aveiro. And nothing pleasures me more in my vacations than visiting every single one of the places that make me happy and comfortable at the same time. So this post is for all my friends from Aveiro, you have no idea how much I miss you!
Nothing better than a long skirt with a light breeze. It was windy outside today and I wanted this blue skirt to be the main item of this post so I wore other neutral pieces with it. I was very happy with how the pictures turned out, they show the movement of the skirt makes every time I move. The looks people kept giving me were to say the least funny. I think it was because of my shoes, but who knows. Probably they were wondering that the boots I was wearing were uncomfortable but they couldn’t be farther from the truth. They’re the most comfortable heels that I own. If you want to invest in some high heel boots, buy something like this, they’re extremely versatile and they make an outfit pop without much effort.
Coral is indeed one of my favorite colors. I know its a bold choice but in a way it can make a certain look really interesting. And I'm not just talking about Summer, we should wear these kinds of bright colors to keep us warm in the cloudy days of Winter. And nothing better in the hot weather than a blouse with an open back in "peplum". The sandals used in this post were a great find on Primark. Primark is already not an expensive store and they are on sales right now so if you don't want to spend a lot of money you should keep them in mind.
Once again the day was a little odd when it comes to the weather but nothing that could keep me from the joy of photographing for a new post and a few laughs.
It wasn’t one of the best days to take pictures. Or it was sunny or very cloudy like it was going to rain. So, for this kind of weather, nothing better than a good pair of boots and my favorite capeline. Individually those two pieces are my favorite. So I thought: “Will they work together?”. It was worth a shot and I’m really happy with the outcome. There boots are in fact my “war boots”. I take them to music festivals where the get dirty and they even have a tear made by my dog! But I still love them. The shirt I’m wearing is suitable for every situation creating different styles without looking like the same shirt. Lastly, a capeline is the ideal solution when you don’t feel like wearing sunglasses and with an extra: it protects the hair from solar radiation!
And the day has finally come. The day when the dream will come true. Who knew that what it took was just a push from the right people to make me wonder what I was missing for not having a fashion blog. All the fun, the friendships, the knowledge acquired! So, for all the incentives and all the points people made, I, Inês Meireles, have to thank from the bottom of my heart to all of those people. Without you I wouldn’t be able to build and continue this.
Thank you notes aside here I will make a pledge: I won’t let anything or anyone make me give up this dream I have and I’ll make good use of this blog for it to come true.
Without further ado, I officially start this amazing journey that I hope to enjoy!
